Your organization must subscribe to and actively receive security alerts, advisories, and directives from external sources (CERT, vendors, industry groups). When relevant, you must also generate and distribute your own internal security alerts and advisories to appropriate personnel.

Implementation steps

  1. Subscribe to external advisory sources including CCCS, US-CERT, NIST NVD, and all relevant vendor security bulletins
  2. Assign responsibility for reviewing incoming advisories and determining applicability to the organization's systems
  3. Develop and distribute internal security alerts when external advisories or internal findings require organizational action
  4. Maintain records of received advisories, applicability assessments, and actions taken in response
