Implementation steps

  1. Develop a security assessment plan defining the scope of systems, controls to evaluate, and assessment methodology
  2. Conduct assessments at the defined frequency using test, examine, and interview methods to validate control effectiveness
  3. Document findings in a formal assessment report including control status (satisfied, partially satisfied, not satisfied)
  4. Present findings to management and use results to drive remediation activities and POAM updates
