Every user must have a unique identity (no shared accounts for individual access) and must authenticate before accessing any system. The system must also require re-authentication in specific situations, such as after inactivity, before accessing sensitive resources, or when session conditions change.

Implementation steps

  1. Assign unique user accounts in Active Directory for all personnel; prohibit shared accounts for individual use
  2. Enforce domain authentication for all workstation and server access
  3. Configure re-authentication requirements for sensitive systems (e.g., require password re-entry for privileged applications)
  4. Audit for shared accounts periodically and remediate any findings
