Systems must automatically lock the screen after a defined period of inactivity (e.g., 15 minutes). The lock screen must hide all application content behind a lock screen image and require the user to re-authenticate to resume. This prevents unauthorized access to an unattended workstation.

On-premises implementation and evidence

Inactivity device lock with screen concealment

Implementation steps

  1. Configure Group Policy to enable screen saver with password protection after a defined inactivity timeout
  2. Set the screen saver to a blank screen or approved image that conceals all previously visible information
  3. Apply the policy to all workstations and enforce via Group Policy so users cannot override the setting
  4. Test the configuration on representative workstations and document the effective settings
